On the 1st of October 2022, the Midlands women’s convention was held in Nottingham. Several attended from our church and joined hundreds of other Christian women who had travelled to Cornerstone from in and around the midlands. We enjoyed fellowship together as well as hearing great teaching from Grace Holt who is from Crossway Stratford which is a church in London.
I’ve been attending the convention for several years and God willing I hope to attend many more. I look at is a my ‘Mary moment’ where I’m just there to sit, listen and learn. There’s something spiritually energising and comforting about being surrounded by so many likeminded people. Each year ’10 of those have an amazing bookstore at the convention and it never disappoints! I have left the day many times laden with too many books, each year promising myself that I’ll only buy three and then somehow lacking the self-control to restrict myself to so small a number, but it is great to have access to good Christian books even if it's just one day a year, as unfortunately there aren’t that many good Christian book shops that are easily accessible.
The format has changed over the years, and I’ll admit I do miss the seminars but having three talks from the main speaker is a welcome bonus. This year’s talks were on 1 Peter, those who know me well, know that this is my favourite book of the bible so basically two of my favourite things brought together, what more could a girl want!
There are so many beautiful truths in 1 Peter;
our living hope,
our imperishable, undefiled and unfading inheritance,
our true identity in Christ, that we’re chosen and precious,
and instructions on how-to live-in humility and submission as Christ did.
Grace Holt brought all these truths and more to life with meaningful stories and gentle reminders of who we are and what that means, encouraging us to be faithful in times of suffering. Please find her talks below and enjoy this year’s lessons from the convention.
